My name is Tosin. I love to be addressed as “Oluwamitomisin”, a Yoruba name that means “My God is worthy or sufficient to be served”. The name reminds me of the faithfulness of God. I have written a number of short sequels; some of which have been published in books, magazines, and blogs (click here). I also write articles, design and maintain blogs for I am Woman.
I am a story teller so don’t be surprised that I am involved actively in this project. I believe stories change lives; it changed mine. I used to have very low self-worth. My head was buried in the mud until God brought me out of those ashes. I used to live in fear, self-doubt and worry. I used to be so critical and never saw good coming out of me, so I can tell you one or more things about that. In fact, I never knew how obvious this was until I celebrated my 30th birthday and received testimonial from my long-time friends and family members of the girl I used to be. I bless God for setting me free. Stories made a difference during those times —knowing I was not alone in my struggle and there are many others who are accomplished irrespective of the limiting circumstances facing them. Some of the stories were from young women and that gave me courage to want to be better. Stories changed my perspectives, helped me to see the bigger picture and broke that veil of self-doubt. I also learnt from my personal experience, one of which was learning not to worry about anything. I hope to share some of this in “Out of the Ashes”. I know inspiring stories are like blood drips; they revive lives. Likewise, words revive hope in us and helps us to see situations differently.
I believe we are all living epistles like Paul said, and all have a story to share to the world. I desire that through these stories and more, lives of women and girls will be changed. More women will come to the light of God and learn how to leave a past behind. I appreciate your effort for making it this far to know more about the project. I ask further that you make a commitment to be part of this project one way or the other. Everyone deserves to have and live in hope.
